hermetic compressor and semi-hermetic compressor difference

When we choose Water Chiller, we need to know the compressor type selection, for example, the compressor can be simply divided into a fully hermetic compressor and a semi-hermetic compressor, let's take a look at their differences.

The main differences between a hermetic compressor and a semi-hermetic compressor are aspects such as structure, performance, maintenance, and cost.

1. Structural differences

Fully hermetic compressor: The motor and compressor parts are all enclosed in a shell, sharing a main shaft, eliminating the shaft sealing device, and reducing the size and weight of the compressor. This design makes it compact, small and lightweight

 

Semi-hermetic compressor : The motor is partially exposed to the external environment, while the compressor is partially enclosed within a single housing. The motor housing is usually an extension of the cylinder block crank box to ensure the concentricity of the compressor and the motor. This design makes the structure relatively large, larger and heavier.

 

2. Performance differences

Fully hermetic compressor: smooth operation, low noise, low vibration, high safety, reducing the occurrence of failure and danger. High efficiency, able to provide higher cooling effect and more energy-efficient operation. However, the heat dissipation effect of a fully hermetic compressor is not as good as that of a semi-hermetic compressor

 

Semi-hermetic compressor: better heat dissipation, better ability to maintain the stability and reliability of the equipment. Suitable for large-scale refrigeration equipment. Easy to purchase and maintain. However, hermetic compressors are not as efficient as hermetic compressors and require more energy to keep the equipment running.

 

 

3. Maintenance differences

Fully enclosed compressor: Since the entire refrigeration compressor motor unit is installed in a sealed casing that cannot be disassembled, it is not easy to carry out internal repairs and needs to be replaced as a whole. Therefore, the reliability of use is required to be high, and the service life is long.

 

Semi-hermetic compressor: It can be used to maintain and repair the motor and compressor parts separately, which is more flexible and convenient. Ideal for applications that require flexible maintenance.

 

4. Application scenarios

Hermetic compressor: suitable for occasions that require efficient and safe operation, such as small air conditioning units, room air conditioners, refrigeration appliances, etc

 

Semi-hermetic compressor: suitable for large-scale refrigeration equipment, cold storage, refrigerated transportation, frozen processing and other fields, because of its good heat dissipation effect,It is suitable for long-term high-load operation.
