Evaporators divided into shell and tube type and water tank coil type

Last time we talked about Industrial Chillers, which are divided into Air Cooled Chiller and Water Cooled Chillers, they have the same thing in common as the use of Evaporators. But evaporators come in two forms. Today we will learn about the evaporator.

The main function of the Evaporator is to absorb heat through the evaporation of liquid refrigerant at low pressure, so as to achieve refrigeration. The form of evaporator can be divided into two types: Shell And Tube Type And Water Tank Coil Type.

The first is the Shell And Tube Evaporator, which is mainly composed of a tube bundle and a shell, where the refrigerant evaporates inside the tube and the refrigerant (such as water or brine) flows outside the tube.


The second is the Water Tank Coil Type, as shown in the figure below, the stainless steel pipe or copper pipe is bent into a coils type, and then placed in the stainless steel water tank to form an internal circulation system, when the water is put into the water tank, the coil in the water tank will be refrigerated. The refrigerant runs inside the coil and the liquid circulates in the tank.


So when we choose a Chiller, we must know what kind of Evaporator we need. A lot of my clients don't know much about this. Today we will teach you a simple method:

1. We need to decide what we need to cool, for example, you need to cool your water tank, then the chiller should choose shell and tube Evaporator.

2. If you need to cool the interlayer or the pipes in your equipment, then you have to choose the Water Tank Coil Type Evaporator.
