What is chiller?
In the refrigeration industry, it is divided into two types: air-cooled chiller and water-cooled chiller, and according to the compressor, it is divided into screw chiller, scroll chiller, and centrifugal chiller. In terms of temperature control, it is divided into low-temperature industrial chiller and room temperature chiller, the temperature of the room temperature unit is generally controlled in the range of 0 °C ~ 35 °C, and the temperature control of the low temperature unit is generally about 0 °C ~ -100 °C.
Chillers are widely used in all walks of life, so the requirements for chillers are also different.
What is a water cooled chillers?
The water-cooled chiller uses the shell-and-tube evaporator to exchange water with the refrigerant, and the refrigerant system absorbs the heat load in the water, cools the water to produce cold water, and then brings the heat to the shell-and-tube condenser through the role of the compressor, and the refrigerant and water carry out heat exchange so that the water absorbs the heat and then takes the heat out of the external cooling tower through the water pipe.
What is a air cooled chillers?
In fact, the internal principle of the air-cooled chiller is the same, it also uses the shell and tube evaporator to exchange water with the refrigerant, and the refrigerant system absorbs the heat load in the water, cools the water to produce cold water, and then brings the heat to the finned condenser through the action of the compressor, and then cools the fan to dissipate heat to the condenser. The only difference is the way the heat is dissipated.
Same:
1. Air cooled chillers and water cooled chillers actually have the same principle, both of which are to refrigerate liquids, such as cooling water, cooling ethylene glycol, cooling oil, cooling cutting fluid, cooling soda, cooling milk, cooling beverages, etc., all cooling liquids can be cooled.
2. The same is to use a compressor for refrigeration, and the same has a water pump.
Different:
The only difference is that the condenser is different, which is equivalent to the difference in radiator, and the air-cooled chiller dissipates heat from the high-pressure area of the compressor through Aluminum Finned Coil + cooling Fan. Water-cooled chillers dissipate heat through cooling towers, so this is the only difference.
As you can see, the above picture is the design of the air-cooled chiller, and we can clearly see that the condenser is composed of Aluminum Finned Coil + cooling fan.
The above is the component of the water-cooled chiller, you can see that the condenser is composed of shell and tube, and a large cooling tower should be configured outside.
That's it for today, and in the next chapter, we'll talk about the difference between air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers.
